What artificial intelligence will never be able to write for you

Pope Leo XIV settled the matter in February 2026: he urged preachers to “resist the temptation to prepare homilies with AI,” reminding them that “it will never be able to share the faith.” The reason is simple and deep.

AI can mimic a style, quote a verse, outline a plan. What it cannot do: keep watch all night beside the dying and meet God there. Hold a church together through a crisis. Doubt, then find faith again by a path no algorithm could have predicted.

Your spiritual authority doesn't come from your eloquence — it comes from what you have walked through. That is precisely what generated content will never contain. And it is exactly what a generation saturated with artificial content is thirsty for: the real, the embodied, the lived.
