A generation is reopening the Bible — but who will feed that hunger?

Something few people saw coming is happening. Among 18–24 year-olds, Bible reading jumped from 30% to 49% in a single year. Bible sales have hit their highest level in twenty-one years. The share of young adults who say they believe in God has more than doubled since 2021. Observers already call it the “quiet revival.”

For a pastor, a leader, an engaged member, this is staggering news: the harvest is here. An entire generation is hungry for the Word again.

But here is the question that should keep us awake. This generation doesn't look first inside a church — it looks at a screen. And what does it find?

Increasingly, content produced by artificial intelligence and sorted by algorithms. In 2026, nearly two in three preachers already use AI to prepare. Pope Leo XIV himself had to warn: “artificial intelligence will never be able to share the faith.”

How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? — Romans 10:14

The real issue isn't AI. It's the silence of the shepherds.

When a generation is thirsty and turns to the screen, the void gets filled — always. The only question is: by what? By smooth, faceless, scar-free content? Or by the voice of those who have truly walked with God, crossed long nights, carried souls?

Your pastoral experience, your years of teaching, what God taught you in secret — no machine can produce that. But as long as it stays in your Sunday sermons and your private notes, it never reaches the young woman who, at 11 p.m., types a question of faith into her phone.

Putting your voice into a form that remains

A book is found, quoted, recommended, given away. It has an author, a face, an authority. Where the algorithmic feed forgets everything in three seconds, a book carries your voice into hands you will never shake — years after you wrote it. The quiet revival is a window. Windows close.

A question for this week — If someone in the middle of a spiritual search could read only one thing from you — not a post, but a book — what would the title be? Write down what comes. That's often where a book begins.
